Senate releases $118 billion bipartisan aid proposal for Israel, Ukraine, border security

Senators have released a bipartisan aid proposal to fund Ukraine, Israel, and the US southern border. The proposal, which is worth $118.2 billion, includes $60.1 billion for Ukraine, $14.1 billion for Israel, and $20.2 billion to improve border security. It also allocates funds for humanitarian assistance in war-torn regions and defense operations in the Red Sea and Taiwan. The bill matches President Joe Biden’s initial aid package proportions, with the exception of $13 billion more for border security. The proposal is scheduled to be voted on in the Senate, but it is expected to face opposition from House Republicans who have proposed separate funding for Israel. The House counterproposal was criticized by the White House.
